Diabetes food guide pyramid

  • Let’s go through the foods that you’ve written down and see where they fall in the various food groups.   Putting the foods you’ve eaten into the different food groups will help you learn about how the Idaho Plate Method for diabetes works.
     
  • So, let’s start with the grain group:  For breakfast, did you  eat a bread or cereal product?
     
  • How about lunch or supper?
     
  • Repeat with the rest of the food groups.
     
  • Total up the number of times you ate a food in the different food groups, and add up how many servings you had from the different groups. 
     
  • In the next segment (The Plate Method), we will be talking about the Plate Method for Diabetes and you will learn how many servings you should be eating from all the different food groups.
